NoctRead is a browser extension that applies dark/night themes and a reading mode to websites. We designed it to be private by default.
Nothing about your browsing. NoctRead does not collect, store, or transmit the pages you visit, your history, your content, or any personal information. It performs no analytics or tracking.
The paragraph above is about the extension. The website you are reading it on is measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without setting any cookie and without building a profile or an identifier that could follow you across sites. We use it only to know how many people reach the site. The purchase confirmation page is excluded.
Your preferences (theme, brightness, per-site toggles, schedule, reading options) are stored locally in your browser and, if you are signed in, synced by your browser's own sync. They never reach our servers.
If you purchase Pro, the only data sent to our license server is the license key you enter, so we can confirm it is valid. We do not receive your browsing data with it. Payments are processed by Stripe under their own privacy policy; we never see your full card details.
The Pro dynamic theme recolours a page by reading the stylesheets that page already uses. When a stylesheet is served from another domain, your browser blocks the page from reading its contents, so NoctRead requests that same stylesheet URL itself. These requests are sent without cookies and without any identifier, only to the server the page had already loaded that stylesheet from, and only over public http(s) addresses. The result is used solely to compute colours on your device. No new information about you is created, and nothing is sent to us.
NoctRead requests access to website content (<all_urls>) solely to restyle pages locally in your browser. Apart from the licence check and the stylesheet requests described above, no page data leaves your device.
